Two posts in two days. Yes, be afraid. Hey, I have to keep up with Robincat after all. Just a quick post to show off a recently started WIP, the Super Spiral Shawl from A Gathering of Lace. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Helen's Lace, but I don't remember the name of the color. I'm really enjoying it so far, which is a good thing. I don't think the yarn could have handled being frogged a fourth time.
That's all for now.

Holidays and Ice Storms and Etsy oh my!
Uh, yeah. It's been a while. I've been lazy. No excuses, just the truth.![]()
Let's see. What's been going on. Hm. Well, first off in mid-December Ceci's and my best friend Deana graduated with her Master's degree. Congrats, Deana! You kick butt! Here's a photo of her (finally!) wearing Lace Insanity, whose official name has now been changed in honor of it being gifted to her at her graduation to Angel Cum Laude.
Christmas was relaxing and mostly uneventful. After the eye-candy-licious copy of Victorian Lace Today that Renee got me, the most noteworthy gift I got was from Ceci's mother in law, Gale. She got me a gift certificate to a new yarn shop that just opened in Burnet near where she lives called Artisan. The place is WONDERFUL. Very roomy and open layout, SUPER kid friendly....hey, if any of y'all live in the Austin area, it's very much worth the short drive out there to visit. Bug me for the details if you like. Sadly no photos of the place. I forgot my camera and is was a miserably cold and wet day to boot. But we were at a yarn shop! That made the day all good.
New Year's was my kinda new years. Relaxing at home and watching the ball drop on TV. I think I even got some knitting done. And since then...well, work's been hectic, knitting's been progressing slowly but surely, and...this is the biggie. I FINALLY got off my lazy butt and started listing stitch markers on Etsy. Yes, they're there, go look here or you can click on my Entrelac logo over there on the left side. I'm also (slowly) working on setting up my own online shopping cart system here on meowing dog to sell them directly because the way I want to sell them would be ridiculous if I went through Etsy. Basically, I want people to be able to buy onesies of any stitch makers they like instead of having to get them in sets of five or whatever. Can't do that on Etsy without their listing fees eating up what little profit margin I have. I'll be sure to let y'all know when that's up and running. It's just Etsy for now.
Ah, and the ice storm. What more is there to say about that? Not much. So here are the photos I took so y'all can laugh at us wimpy Austinites that won't go out and drive on an inch of slick black ice to get to work.
Spinning: I've started spinning this yummy gorgeous Ashland Bay merino in the Forest colorway, as part of my reimbursement to Helen Poetangel for being a wonderful person and knitting a shawl for our grandmother Mamash. Official spinning and yarn pr0n follows. Also, still working on the blue from my spinning SP with Bruiser, and putting Slicer to work on the Falkland that Seven sent me.
Wobble just isn't fun to spin with anymore after I've gotten spoiled on my new lovelies. The nonokitty pink and yellow laceweight is all done and plied, I just need to set the twist and remember to contact the lady on Knittyboard that I offered to swap it to.
Knitting: I'm in a lace state of mind agan. Making a wide-border Victorian style scarf/stole out of my sorta-UT-orange Wildfoote decade old stash sock yarn. First border done, body of object is gonna take me a while. Thankfully easy to knit. Also frogged the Lead or Follow Lorna's Laces, too brainy for my current state of mind. Tried a few other potential shawls, and finally decided on the super spiral shawl from A Gathering of Lace. Me likey. It's very easy but looks way more complex than it is and it's making the variegated yarn's colors stripe in a very non-standard manner, which is what I really wanted. I'll try to post photos of the in-progress shawl when I remember.
That's it for now, I think. If I've forgotten anything, too bad. It IS 4am right now after all.
